They say that if you consider going for therapy and show up, that’s half the battle won. But I think that the battle has only begun. Opening up about yourself isn’t easy, going through those experiences of the past isn’t easy, trying and failing and then having the courage to try again the next day isn’t easy.

When my mother told me that I should consider going to therapy, I didn’t have a clue as to what I was signing up for. Although I do consider myself one of the lucky ones that my parents were so open and supportive of the idea of me going to therapy, which isn’t the case for many individuals in our society.

There was a point in time when I used to feel like a pressure cooker as too many emotions would just keep on boiling in me and at any small incident would lose my temper and throw out my anger at the wrong person. I had certain unresolved issue with my own self, I could come to terms with certain things that were happening with me and around me and that is when I approached Purvi. She was able to understand my situation and being a psychologist, was able to diagnose the problem and break it down for me to understand it better . Told me how to deal with them and gave me the strength to face them. IT took me time to tackle them but i did what was told in the sessions and I am at a much better space with myself and my surrounding. Thanks Purvi

Counselor Purvi… I approached her at my lowest. At the time when I was completely tangled with no recourse. Career, health, relationships everything seemed to be falling apart and I couldn’t hold back any longer! That was the time when I made a bold decision of consulting a psychologist.

It being my first time, I wasn’t too sure of what to expect. I just wanted someone to hear me out while I cried uncontrollably.  I still remember her words to me on my first consultation… “now you don’t have to worry you have me as your mentor and we will solve your problems slowly step by step”. Understanding my problems gave me a upper hand on dealing with them.

Purvi, has always been like a confidant, a close friend to me, given me the support when it was needed and also shouted at me when it was required.  Mental health is a social stigma and many of us are suffering internally. Please stop hurting yourself, talk to someone, consult a counselor and trust me life’s worth living and not worth wasting on such problems.. many of which, are self-created.

Before visiting Purvi over six months ago, I was a bit skeptical. I had been to two therapists before her, and they did not help me overcome the major issues I was facing. My first session though changed everything.

I came to Purvi with many things going on in my mind, from my very recent break up to the lack of self-confidence and anxiety issues, which were affecting me personally and professionally. She was quick to identify the root cause of those: that I don’t love and think highly of myself. Once we started digging deeper, we started realising the causes and how we can push back against such negative thinking.

Purvi has been extremely proactive in helping me overcome my issues. Her simple homeworks have been super effective in the progress I’ve made, where now I say “you know what, it’s okay if I can’t do this yet. I know I will, very soon! I have brought back positive thinking into my life, I feel better about what I do and my anxiety around people has gone down significantly.

I am still a work in progress, but I back myself now more than ever to be the person I want to be.Let me give you all some advice: do not wait for things to reach a point where it’s difficult to regain control of your mind. Start talking the moment you feel something’s wrong.

Truly understanding and helping people with what goes on in their mind is something very few people can do. I would describe it as magic, and I’m really grateful to have met a wizard. I continue to recommend her to those who want to feel better about themselves and the world around them.

At some time in our lives we may need help dealing with our problems. You feel prolonged sense of helplessness and sadness, and your problems do not seem to get better despite your efforts and help from family and friends.  That’s when I heard about Purvi Shah and decided to go over a counselling session. Purvi Shah  provides a supportive environment to talk openly and confidentially about concerns and feelings at the same time, maintaining your confidentiality and will answer all your questions.

The right match is important which I found in Purvi, A good rapport with your psychologist is critical. Choose one with whom you feel comfortable and at ease.

Thank u so much Purvi for helping me overcome the hard time I was facing 🙂

For me, counselling has been an incredible way to know more about myself. Initially I was apprehensive; I thought it wouldn’t be very effective. But sessions with Purvi ma’am challenged my misconception. With every session, I became more and more aware about things which were holding me back, things I wasn’t aware about.

Counseling for me, has been a journey of self-discovery and has also helped me in unlearning and relearning thinking and behavioural patterns in a new way.

Counseling and therapy are terms that have started receiving more warmth now, many students are opting to dive into this profession, but there are still parts of our society for whom this is nothing but a waste of time and money. From my interaction with most people,

My understanding has been that people consider it cowardly to ask for help, it makes them look weak, they believe that life is always going to throw stones at you and you have to keep moving forward. Well my response to that is, that it’s a correct analogy, except therapy only shows you the correct way to handle those stones that are being thrown at you.

When I entered Purvi’s clinic 4 years ago I was completely clueless about what was happening to me and around me. To be fair I still am, cause nobody has life all figured out. Although now, I am in love with this cluelessness, which makes me discover and mould myself everyday. I am grateful to her to support me during times when I couldn’t support myself.

To those who think that they will get all answers once they go meet a counselor, I can only say that therapy is a constant struggle and battle of trying to know yourself and trying to become better. But it is a battle worth taking on

When I sat down for my first counseling session with Purvi Shah i was completely lost, I had anxiety and borderline depression. She helped me a lot and my anxiety went down drastically just in few sessions. I, 10/10 would recommend her.

“There is a lot of stigma around the word “Counseling or Therapy” Many people still believe that if you are going for therapy means you have some mental illness. There is a high need for normalizing going for therapy…after all mental health is as important as physical health. I decided to go for therapy to Ms. Purvi Shah to better understand myself.Ms. Purvi Shah helped me in the process of self discovery. Going to therapy helped in accepting myself and being more confident in all aspects of my life. As I am from a psychology background , I was aware of the benefits of going for therapy.  But I realized that actually going for therapy takes a lot of strength. Counseling is not just a treatment; it is a lifestyle choice which helps us in learning to cope with problems. Ms. Purvi helped me in this process with her positivity which gave me new perspectives to look at my issues. When I look back now, it is one of the best decisions that I took to visit  Purvi. Thank you Ms. Purvi.

I have been a former patient for counseling with Purvi Shah. She is very compassionate and a good listener. She has given me comfort and tools to help me deal with my anxiety and depression. There has been a lack of understanding about mental health even today. People who suffer from mental challenges were label as “crazy people” which is not true. There many different kinds of mental health issues from depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, dementia, Alzheimer’s and so forth. But there has been a lot of new research and medications to help people. It is always a good idea to go to a trained counselor in this field to evaluate and guide a person to overcome mental health challenges. So I do urge anyone who thinks he or she needs help should not hesitate to seek counseling. It was considered a taboo to do so. But you have a choice and at times have to convince family members. In fact I personally feel everyone should seek counseling as we all have gone through some tough situations in life. Also all therapist respect your privacy. Hope this encourages people to seek help to improve ones life. Thank you.
